Tui Snider

Always ready to travel!

Tui Snider is a writer, musician and photographer. She has worn a lot of hats in her life – literally – and is especially fond of berets. Like many writers, Tui has run the gauntlet of odd jobs: everything from composing corporate background music, to running a coffeehouse/restaurant called the New Bohemian, and now, working in her husband’s boat repair shop.

Tui once worked as a caretaker for five years on a tiny island with a population of seven people. It was quite an adventure, since there was no ferry service or outside utilities (no internet or cell phones!) During that time, Tui home-schooled her step-daughter, learned about self-sufficiency and spent a lot of time writing. She is currently working on a memoir based upon this transformative experience.

Tui loves to travel and has lived in Europe twice, once in Antwerp, Belgium and more recently in Naples, Italy. Her latest adventure, however, began four years ago, when she met a Texan and wound up following her heart to a little town near Fort Worth.

Even though Texas is part of the US, Tui’s experienced way more culture shock than she ever expected since moving there. She is currently working on a travel guide called Tui Snider’s Unexpected Texas: Your Guide to Offbeat & Overlooked Sights in the Dallas – Fort Worth Metroplex, with an anticipated release in the spring of 2014.

Tui’s writing and photos have appeared in BMIbaby, easyJet, Wizzit, Click, Ling, iStopover and SkyEurope magazines, among others. She also wrote the shopping chapter for the “Time Out Naples: Capri, Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast 2010” edition.

For more about Tui, check out her blog Tui Snider’s Unexpected Texas, follow her on Twitter @TuiSnider, or email her at mentalmosaic at gmail dot com.

Patricia Lynne

Ready to write… or goof off.

Patricia Lynne is a Young Adult writer who never thought writing would become so integral to her life. Currently, she has two Young Adult novels out with plenty more on the way. There is never enough time in her day for them all either. Where is a time turner when one needs it? Or a Tardis. While she loves YA and anything with paranormal or fantasy creatures, more morbid reading pastimes include devouring serial killer profiles and true crime stories dealing with FBI Profilers.

When she’s not writing or wasting time on Twitter, she is creating jewelry or knitting (you don’t have to be a granny to knit!) Another passion is cooking and baking, spending the last 13 years working in various restaurants as a cook. Her favorite job was as a baker, saying, “It’s the best job in the world because I get to make cookies!” (Writing does come in next.)

Currently, Patricia lives in Upper Michigan with her hubby. No pets, but is hoping one day to have what resembles a petting zoo. You can always find Patricia at her blog, Patricia Lynne, Independent Author, wasting time on Twitter and Google+, or email her at patricialynne07 at gmail dot com. She may be shy and introverted at first, but break through that barrier and you might not get her to shut up. Especially if it’s about Doctor Who or vampires.
